Wike Declares: “No One Can Expel Me From PDP”

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has insisted that no group or individual can expel him from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

His reaction came after an expulsion notice was issued by a faction loyal to Governors Bala Mohammed and Seyi Makinde.

The former Rivers State Governor said the notice was unexpected, adding that he had contributed too much to be pushed aside.

Moreover, he stressed that his long-term presence in the PDP placed him in a unique position.

Wike, while speaking during a meeting with the PDP Board of Trustees and the National Executive Council, maintained that he had been part of the party since its formation.

Therefore, he said he would not allow those who joined later to decide his fate.

In his words:

“How can those who met me in my house now drag me out? I will never allow it.”

He then challenged his critics.

“Ask Bala Mohammed which party he ran under as a senator, because our party has always thought that people who come in can become governors and senators,” he said.

Furthermore, Wike added that many of those issuing threats had benefited from a system built by loyal members.

“They now think they can pursue those who have made sacrifices for the party from its inception and formation. If people have allowed them before, we will not allow them,” he said.

The minister encouraged PDP stakeholders to remain firm. In addition, he warned that those who did not mean well for the party would eventually “find their way out.”

Meanwhile, the meeting drew several influential PDP figures, including former Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and former deputy speaker Uche Nwuche.

The Acting National Chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammed; the National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu; and several BoT members were also present.

The statement has intensified discussions around internal divisions. However, Wike’s comments suggest he intends to remain a central figure in the PDP despite rising tensions.
