Motorists in Lagos have been advised to brace for temporary traffic changes as the Lagos State Government announces road diversions ahead of the 10th edition of the Lagos Women Run, scheduled for Saturday, November 8, 2025, beginning at 6:00 a.m.
The annual 10-kilometre marathon, organised by the Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC) in partnership with event organisers, will kick off from Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) and end at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan.
According to a statement issued by the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, several major routes will experience partial closures during the race to ensure the safety of runners and other road users.
“The affected routes include TBS, Water Board, Old NITEL, Outer Marina, Officers’ Mess, Bonny Camp Bridge, State House, Ahmadu Bello Way, Akin Adesola Street, Falomo Bridge, Falomo Roundabout, Awolowo Road, Onikan Roundabout, and Mobolaji Johnson Arena,” Osiyemi explained.

He added that the Lagos Women Run 2025 traffic diversion plan was carefully structured to minimize disruption while maintaining a smooth flow of movement across the city.
Motorists heading from Ozumba Mbadiwe to Third Mainland Bridge are advised to use Bonny Camp to Onikan Underpass, connect Marina Exit to Force Road, and link Outer Marina to access the bridge.
Similarly, those driving from Apongbon toward Ikoyi are urged to follow Odunlami Street, link Igbosere Road, and proceed through Moloney Street to connect Ikoyi Road.
“We appeal to residents and motorists to exercise patience and obey traffic officials.
These closures are only temporary and will be lifted gradually as the race progresses,” Osiyemi added.
To ensure safety and ease of movement, personnel from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), the Police, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and the Lagos State Neighbourhood Corps (LSNC) will be deployed along all affected routes.

Furthermore, traffic management officers will be strategically stationed at intersections and diversion points to guide motorists and prevent gridlock during the event.
“Our focus is to maintain order and guarantee a safe environment for participants and commuters alike,” the Commissioner assured.
The Lagos Women Run, now in its 10th edition, has become one of Nigeria’s most celebrated fitness events.
It promotes women’s empowerment, community engagement, and healthy living across the state.
This year’s race will see thousands of participants from various backgrounds, including professionals, students, and fitness enthusiasts, competing for recognition and prizes.
Moreover, the event is expected to attract visitors and supporters, boosting local businesses around TBS, Onikan, and Victoria Island during the weekend.
