Nigerians Will Fight Back If U.S. Invades Nigeria- Fani-Kayode

Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode has issued a stern warning to the United States following remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump directing the U.S. Department of War to prepare for possible military action against Nigeria.

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, Fani-Kayode accused Trump of attempting to provoke a crisis in Nigeria and vowed that Nigerians would resist any form of invasion.

The statement came after Trump, on Saturday, alleged that the Nigerian government was “allowing the killing of Christians” and threatened to halt U.S. aid, while also hinting at possible military intervention.

Trump wrote on Truth Social, “If the Nigerian Government continues to allow the killing of Christians, the U.S.A. will immediately stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria, and may very well go into that now disgraced country, ‘guns-a-blazing,’ to completely wipe out the Islamic Terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities.”

He added that he had “instructed the Department of War to prepare for possible action,” claiming any attack would be “fast, vicious, and sweet.”

Responding to Trump’s comments, Fani-Kayode described the U.S. leader as a “deranged and sociopathic tyrant,” accusing him of hypocrisy for ignoring other global atrocities.

“Imagine a deranged & sociopathic meglomaniac & tyrant, a recalcitrant and unrepentant schoolyard and dockside bully and a cheap and shameless godless scumbag like @realDonaldTrump threatening our country with violence, military action and invasion. What a nerve!” Fani-Kayode said.

He revealed that a friend had called him expressing fear over Trump’s comments, but insisted that Nigerians would stay and fight rather than flee.

“My response to her was as follows. ‘You are right. They are evil and, if he carries out his abominable threat, there will be a war. We shall not leave the country but we will fight it out with them,’” he declared.

Fani-Kayode further accused Trump of double standards, saying the president ignored human rights violations in Sudan and Gaza, while unfairly branding Nigerians as “killers of Christians.”

“Trump, a fascist & an associate of the globally recognized Hitler of the 21st century, @netanyahu, has refused to call the Israeli Zionist Nazis and the UAE-backed RSF butchers of Darfur, Sudan mass murderers and genocidal maniacs,” he said.

Fani-Kayode criticised Nigerians for what he described as complacency in the face of global intimidation, arguing that the situation revealed the country’s need for strong leadership.

“This will be the greatest challenge they have ever faced and maybe after it is all over they will appreciate the importance of having bold, articulate and courageous leaders,” he stated.

The former minister’s comments have sparked intense debate online, with many Nigerians calling on the government to issue an official response to Trump’s statement.
