The 46-year-old was found dead in his Manchester apartment on Sunday, September 14, 2025, according to a report from TMZ.

The Greater Manchester Police later confirmed Hatton’s passing, stressing that the death is not being treated as suspicious.

This sudden news has shocked fans, especially as the boxing legend had only recently revealed in a livestream that he was set to face Eisa Al Dah in Dubai on December 2, 2025.

Hatton’s return was meant to be one of the most emotional boxing comebacks in recent memory.

On July 7, 2025, he shared with fans during a livestream:
“I’ve missed the sport. I want to give it one more go.”

Now, instead of preparing for his big return, the boxing world is mourning a fighter whose impact extended far beyond the ring.

Born on October 6, 1978, in Stockport, England, Hatton came from a family deeply grounded in sports and education.

His father, Ray Hatton, a long-distance runner and respected author, was inducted into the USATF Master’s Hall of Fame in 2001.

His mother, Carol Hatton, was a steady presence in his life.

Despite being in the spotlight for his high-profile relationships with actress Claire Sweeney and his former fiancée Jennifer Dooley, Hatton was never married.

Known affectionately as “The Hitman,” Hatton was one of Britain’s most decorated boxers. His career highlights include:
* IBF Junior Welterweight Champion (2005–2006) – defeating Kostya Tszyu in a legendary fight.
* The Ring Junior Welterweight Champion (2005–2009) – cementing his status as one of the best of his era.
* WBA (Super) Light Welterweight Champion (2005) – after a win against Carlos Maussa.
* EBA Welterweight Champion (2006) – defeating Luis Collazo to secure the belt.
His fearless style and relentless energy made him a fan favorite both in Britain and worldwide.
