The FBI has announced a reward of up to $100,000 for information leading to the arrest of the shooter who killed conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
The 31-year-old was gunned down on Wednesday during an event at Utah Valley University (UVU), a tragedy that has sent shockwaves across the United States.
Law enforcement officials confirmed that surveillance footage captured a person of interest, whose identity remains unknown.
To speed up the investigation, the FBI released photos and appealed directly to the public for help.
“The FBI is offering a reward of up to $100,000 for information leading to the identification and arrest of the individual(s) responsible for the murd£r of Charlie Kirk,” the bureau wrote on the social platform X.
The FBI described the individual as someone who could have “blended in well with a college institution.”
In the images shared, the person appeared in a hat and sunglasses, paired with an American flag T-shirt featuring an eagle.
During a press briefing on Thursday, Utah Department of Public Safety Commissioner Beau Mason confirmed that investigators had strong video evidence.
“We do have good video footage of this individual,” Mason told reporters.
“If we’re unsuccessful in identifying them immediately, we will reach out for the public’s help and the media’s help in pushing those photos.”
The shooting, which took place in the middle of a student event, has left UVU in mourning.
The university immediately ordered a lockdown, later evacuating students building by building under police escort.
Roads around the campus were also closed as more than 60 emergency vehicles responded to the scene.
Meanwhile, classes and activities at UVU have been suspended until Monday.
In a statement, the school reassured the community that “there is no ongoing threat” but acknowledged the trauma the incident has caused.
Charlie Kirk was a polarizing but influential figure, best known as the founder of Turning Point USA, a conservative youth organization with deep ties to Republican politics.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
The $100,000 reward is aimed at encouraging tips that could lead directly to an arrest.
