“Olamide Used My Name in His Song But Never Compensated Me” – Yemi My Lover Laments

Veteran Nollywood actor Yemi Ayebo, popularly known as Yemi My Lover, has voiced his disappointment over Nigerian music star Olamide using his name in a song without any acknowledgment or compensation.

The actor made this known during a recent interview where he recounted his efforts to contact the YBNL boss after hearing his name used in one of Olamide’s tracks.

According to Ayebo, while he was initially excited, the lack of follow-up from the singer left him disheartened.

“When Olamide used my name in his song ‘Yemi My Lover,’ I was so happy but he didn’t compensate me,” Ayebo said.

He explained that it was during a conversation with Fuji star Pasuma that he raised the topic.

During a casual chat, he asked Pasuma if the rapper had reached out to him after using his stage name in the music.

Pasuma reportedly said no, then gave Ayebo the rapper’s number to settle things privately.

However, despite trying several times over half a year, the veteran actor said he got no response from the YBNL boss neither by calls nor texts.

Meanwhile, his statement has stirred mixed reactions online.

Despite the backlash, many Nigerians have stood behind Ayebo, stating that artists should credit the legacy of veterans who paved the way.
