A sad incident occurred in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Friday when a 43-year-old man named Kazeem reportedly jumped into a domestic well shortly after observing the Eid prayer.
The tragic act, which shocked residents of the Edun area, is believed to have happened under the influence of a hard drug known as ‘Colo’ (Colorado).
The victim, known by locals simply as Kazeem, was said to have returned home from the Eid celebration in the morning before the shocking turn of events.
According to eyewitnesses, his behaviour had been unusual, leading to suspicions of substance use.

The Kwara State Fire Service quickly responded to a distress call made at exactly 10:29 a.m. on Friday.
Confirming the incident, the fire service spokesperson, Hassan Adekunle, said, “The distress call was received by the Fire Service control room at about 10:29 hours, reporting that a man had fallen into a well.
Firefighters were immediately deployed to the scene, where they successfully recovered the body from the well.”
The incident happened at Alapo compound, Edun, and by the time help arrived, Kazeem was already lifeless.
The body was then handed over to police officers from the ‘C’ Division Police Station, Ilorin.
Inspector Babatunde Amos officially took custody of the remains as required.
Adekunle further explained, “The victim, identified as Kazeem, reportedly jumped into the well under the influence of a hard substance known as Colo (Colorado) shortly after returning from Eid prayers.”

The fire service also mentioned that the ministry is awaiting official identification and claim of the body from the family.
Meanwhile, the director of the Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade Olumuyiwa, used the opportunity to warn the public about the dangers of drug misuse.
He said, “Residents of the state should stay away from drug abuse, warning that such acts often lead to tragic outcomes.”
This unfortunate loss once again shines a light on the growing concerns over the abuse of synthetic substances such as Colorado.
