Jennifer Lopez is currently facing a \$300,000 copyright lawsuit after allegedly posting photos from the 2025 Golden Globe Awards without getting permission.
This sad situation has sparked online conversations about digital copyright awareness and how even stars must follow the rules.
On January 5, Lopez turned heads on the red carpet in a stunning white dress and faux fur coat.
Her appearance quickly made headlines, and shortly after the event, she shared five glamorous photos from the night with the caption “GG Weekend Glamour.”

However, not all attention was positive.
Two of the images shared on her social media were reportedly taken by photographer Edwin Blanco.
His agency, Backgrid, has now filed a legal complaint, claiming the photos were used without proper licensing.
The lawsuit is demanding \$150,000 for each image, totalling \$300,000.
According to the court filing, “Ms Lopez’s unauthorised use of the images is commercial in nature.”
The complaint further explains that the pictures were used to promote her personal brand.
Moreover, Lopez tagged fashion designers and jewellery brands in the post, which reportedly boosted the visibility of her partnerships.

In addition, the lawsuit notes that Lopez’s team had previously entered into talks about licensing the photos.
However, the filing claims that the final agreement was never completed, leaving the usage unapproved.
This is not the first time Jennifer Lopez has faced legal issues over photo usage.
She was previously sued in 2019 and 2020 for similar copyright-related matters.
These past cases suggest a repeated pattern that continues to raise concerns in the entertainment industry.
