Tragedy Hits Nollywood as Two Cinematographers Die in Port Harcourt Crash

The Nollywood industry has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of two respected cinematographers, Onos and Gozie, in a tragic car crash.

The sad event occurred in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, as the duo were returning from a wedding ceremony.

The devastating news was shared by veteran Nollywood producer, Stanley Ontop, who posted a heartfelt tribute on Instagram.

According to him, both victims were members of the Cinematographers Society of Nigeria (CSN), and their untimely deaths have left the industry shaken.

His emotional tribute read, “Black Sunday in Nollywood as we lost 2 crew members in an auto crash (accident) in PH while returning from one of their members wedding yesterday… We lost Delta state chairman of Cinematographers Society of Nigeria (CSN) @onos14a . We also lost a very good and talented cinematographer in Asaba Mr @goz_man6 I am heartbroken chai Gozie my friend and brother May their souls rest in peace. This too shall pass . Ontop cares. Shalom!!!”

The crash has brought deep sorrow to the Cinematographers Society of Nigeria and the wider Nollywood community.

Both Onos and Gozie were described as talented and dedicated professionals who had contributed significantly to various film projects over the years.

Their roles behind the scenes had added color and excellence to numerous Nollywood productions.

The emotional weight of this event is being felt across the industry, especially by members of the CSN, who are now grieving two valuable leaders and friends.

Moreover, the accident has also reignited conversations about road safety and the stress many crew members endure while traveling across locations.

Many believe the sacrifices made by crew members often go unnoticed, despite their importance in storytelling and visual production.

In addition, several Nollywood actors and directors have called for a special memorial or tribute project to honor the legacy of Onos and Gozie.
