A fresh layer has been added to the ongoing controversy surrounding the death of late singer Mohbad, as his father, Mr. Joseph Aloba, has made a bold claim regarding the cost of his son’s second autopsy.
In a live session on TikTok, Mr. Aloba stated that he paid a huge sum of N16 million to a licensed pathologist for the independent autopsy.
The decision to carry out the second autopsy followed the approval of a Coroner Court magistrate in Ikorodu, Lagos, in June 2024.
According to him, “With all sincerity, I paid the first tranche of N16 million to the pathologist. After that, I spent close to N2 million. So, if the pathologist can come out to deny my claim, then don’t believe me again.”
The statement has stirred fresh conversations among Nigerians, with many questioning how the grieving father was able to raise such a large amount.
Mr. Aloba addressed public speculation about the payment figure, adding, “Some people were saying it was N12 million that I paid, but I’m still telling you now that I paid N16 million.”
Moreover, the mention of an independent pathologist points to Mr. Aloba’s desire for clarity in a case that has been clouded by mystery since Mohbad’s passing in 2023.
