Popular activist and legal practitioner Deji Adeyanju has shared an update on the ongoing situation involving social critic Martins Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM).
Despite being granted bail and regaining his freedom on Tuesday, VDM’s phone and car have not yet been released by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Adeyanju, who is representing VDM in the case, took to his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Wednesday morning to clarify the conditions surrounding his client’s release.

“There was no condition for VDM’s bail,” Adeyanju wrote. “I was the one who applied for his bail and I made an undertaking to produce him anytime he is needed. His phone and car still with EFCC.”
Recall that VDM was arrested last Friday after visiting a GTBank branch with his mother to address concerns over an alleged deduction from her account.
According to reports, the confrontation that ensued at the bank may have prompted his arrest.
Furthermore, Adeyanju’s update has added to the conversation surrounding the conduct of the anti-graft agency. He wrote, “Despite everything that has happened, I still like the EFCC Chairman.”
