In a strong show of accountability and justice, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 15 young men suspected of internet fraud in Lekki, Lagos.
The suspects were picked up during a sting operation by EFCC operatives from the Lagos Zonal Directorate 2.
The operation took place on Friday, April 25, 2025, at Maple and Jand Court, both within the Royal Pine Estate on Orchid Road in Lekki.
According to the EFCC, the arrest was carried out based on reliable intelligence linking the individuals to online scams.
The agency stated that items recovered from the suspects included several phones, laptop computers, and luxury cars.
The EFCC arrests in Lekki are part of a larger effort to tackle internet fraud, also called “Yahoo Yahoo,” which continues to affect Nigeria’s image globally.
Over the years, Lekki has become a known hotspot for such activities due to its attraction of young people seeking quick wealth.
In a public update, the EFCC said, “The suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.”
The Commission also confirmed that ongoing investigations aim to determine each suspect’s level of involvement.

Moreover, the EFCC reminded the public that fraud, especially online scams, is a crime punishable under Nigerian law.
Meanwhile, the EFCC continues to warn Nigerian youths about the dangers of internet fraud.
“Crime does not pay,” the agency emphasized, urging the younger generation to focus on legal ways to succeed.
Furthermore, the Commission revealed that it conducts regular awareness campaigns across schools and communities.
These campaigns are designed to educate people on how to avoid being lured into illegal online activities.
As the agency intensifies its fight against cybercrime, citizens are being encouraged to report suspicious activities.
