Truck Crashes Off Pen Cinema Bridge, Crushes Two Mini-Buses in Lagos

In a tragic turn of events, a truck fell off the Pen Cinema Flyover on Saturday morning, crushing two mini-buses in the Agege area of Lagos State.

The incident, which occurred inward Old Abeokuta Road, was confirmed by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) at 8:37 a.m.

However, LASTMA did not immediately confirm if there were any casualties or injuries.

According to LASTMA, “A truck fell off the Pen Cinema Fly-over bridge inward Old Abeokuta Road and fell on two commercial mini-bus (Korope).

Recovery of the affected vehicles has been swiftly initiated.

LASTMA personnel and other emergency responders are very much on ground to maintain decorum.”

Meanwhile, this is a very terrible news that calls for utmost caution from all road users.

Moreover, emergency responders acted swiftly to control the situation and prevent further damage.

Efforts to clear the wreckage and ease traffic flow were seen immediately after the crash.

It is important to note that this is not the first major road accident in Lagos this month.

Earlier in April, a road crash involving a 40-foot containerised truck claimed one life and injured five others along the Cele Expressway, inward Oshodi.

In that accident, LASTMA revealed that the truck carrying two large containers experienced a catastrophic brake failure.

The containers detached and fell onto nearby vehicles, causing massive destruction.

A pedestrian sadly lost their life on the spot, while five others sustained varying injuries.

According to reports, one of the bus drivers suffered compound fractures in both his arm and leg.

Furthermore, emergency responders from LASAMBUS were quick to transport the injured victims to the General Hospital in Isolo for urgent care.

LASTMA, LASEMA, FRSC, and the Ijesha-Tedo Police Division collaborated to ensure rescue operations were fast and effective.

In addition, pedestrians must stay alert when using public roads, especially around high-traffic zones like bridges and expressways.

Meanwhile, LASTMA and other emergency agencies have continued to plead with motorists to maintain their vehicles and drive responsibly.

This latest Lagos road accident is another reminder that safety should never be taken for granted.
