NDLEA Uncovers Cannabis-Infused Candies in Lagos Kids’ Store

NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, disclosed the development in a post on X, where he also shared photos of the seized items.

According to him, the candies contained a strong strain of cannabis and were intended to be sold in a shop that primarily caters to children.

Babafemi stated, “One of the latest seizures by NDLEA officers is candies confirmed to contain a strong strain of cannabis. The importer shipped them in for sale in his kiddies’ shop in Lagos, where he sells children’s items, making it seem as though school kids were the target.”

The revelation has sparked discussions on the increasing attempts to disguise illegal substances as everyday consumables, making it even more difficult for parents and guardians to identify harmful products.

Following the seizure, parents have been urged to pay closer attention to the snacks their children consume.

Babafemi further cautioned, “Parents, let’s stay alert to the sweets and snacks our kids take to school or bring home.”

With the rise in drug-laced edibles, experts have emphasized the importance of verifying food labels and purchasing items from trusted sources.

As the NDLEA strengthens its surveillance and enforcement strategies, the public is encouraged to report suspicious activities that could pose a threat to community well-being.
