Abbas has now pledged his allegiance to the All Progressives Congress (APC), signaling a significant shift in Kano’s political dynamics.

In a symbolic move during a welcoming ceremony organized by the Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, Abbas removed the signature red cap of the Kwankwasiyya movement and replaced it with another cap, representing his new affiliation with the APC.

The event, captured in a video released by Jibrin’s media office, highlights the growing tensions and realignments within Kano’s political landscape.

Meanwhile, in related developments from Kano State, the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, has called for peace following a recent ruling

by the Court of Appeal on the emirate dispute. The court, led by Justice Muhammad Mustaph, declared that the Federal High Court in Kano lacked jurisdiction to handle the case involving the Kano monarchy.

It further directed the state’s Chief Judge to reassign the case involving the 15th Emir, Aminu Ado Bayero, the Kano State Government, and Emir Sanusi to a new judge.

Reacting to the judgment, Emir Sanusi expressed satisfaction, urging Kano residents to remain patient and prayerful.

Speaking at his palace after Friday prayers, he said, “I commend the court’s decision and appeal to everyone to maintain peace.

Let us continue to pray for a positive resolution to this matter.”

This series of events highlights the shifting political and traditional dynamics in Kano, with the political defection of Abbas and the ongoing emirate dispute drawing significant public attention. As these developments unfold, calls for unity and peace remain crucial in maintaining stability in the state.
