The Federal Government has officially declared Wednesday, December 25, Thursday, December 26, 2024, and Wednesday, January 1, 2025, as public holidays to mark Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year celebrations.
This announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, through a statement released by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, on Monday, December 23, in Abuja.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo used the opportunity to extend warm festive greetings to all Nigerians, encouraging them to embrace the season’s values of love, peace, and unity.
“The Christmas season is a good moment for both spiritual reflection and national renewal. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, the Prince of Peace, let us demonstrate kindness and extend goodwill to one another, irrespective of our differences, he said.
Furthermore, he emphasized the need for Nigerians to remain committed to peace, unity, and national development as they look forward to the new year.
The minister also reassured citizens of the federal government’s ongoing dedication to ensuring national security and economic growth.
“While wishing Nigerians a merry Christmas and a prosperous 2025, the minister expressed his confidence in the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu’s administration ushering in the new year, a better and prosperous economy that will be the envy of the world, the statement concluded.
Nigerians are encouraged to use the holidays as a time for rest, reflection, and celebration with loved ones while remaining hopeful for a brighter and more prosperous future.
