The Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Police Force, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has issued a stern warning against raining curses on people online, describing it as cyberbullying, which is a criminal offense.
In a post shared on X on Friday, December 20, Adejobi clarified that such acts are not an expression of freedom or criticism but rather punishable under the law.
He stated, “Raining direct curses on someone online is cyberbullying, not expression of freedom or criticism. And cyberbullying, which is even different from defamation, is a criminal offense and punishable. Be guided.”
While some users on X supported his stance as a step toward promoting accountability online, others shared a previous post from Adejobi in 2022 where he seemingly suggested that “mere words of mouth do not constitute any offense,” sparking a debate on freedom of expression and the line between criticism and harassment.
