Popular Nollywood actor-turned-preacher, Woli Arole, has sounded a timely warning to Christians across the world, calling for a return to true spiritual values.
The preacher, who gained fame through comic skits before transitioning fully into ministry, expressed worry over how materialism is fast taking over modern churches.
In a message posted via his official Instagram page, Arole openly challenged believers to reflect on what the church stands for in today’s world.
According to him, the line between worshipping God and glorifying money is becoming increasingly blurred.
“I say this as God’s prophet: Mammon is already creaking into the church,” he wrote.
“The talk of money, the worship of money. Christ did not die so we could become rich; he died so we could have eternal life. Wake up, oh saints. Share this message!!”
Moreover, some supporters of prosperity teachings challenged his statement. An Instagram user, @kolly.jay99, responded, “They will soon quote 2Cor 8:9 for you Woli. Dey play.”
In addition, another user, @olorunnisola_ifedayo, shared a thoughtful reply, saying, “I pray the Lord gives the ‘SAINTS’ an understanding spirit. If Christ didn’t die so we can become rich, I’m sure he also didn’t die so we can become poor/lazy.”
He further emphasized the importance of balance in Christian living, stating, “The message is loud enough and that’s the fact that we shouldn’t worship money or any other thing at all apart from God.”
To support his point, he quoted Matthew 6:33 TPT: “So above all, constantly seek God’s kingdom and his righteousness, then all these less important things will be given to you abundantly.”
He concluded with, “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek.
For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”
Therefore, Arole’s boldness has been described as rare in a time when many preachers shy away from sensitive topics.
His voice, according to followers, may just be what is needed for the church to reflect and readjust?
