Why Ann Was Arrested: Ned Nwoko Breaks Silence on Allegations

Senator Ned Nwoko has addressed the sudden arrest of Ms Izuegbu Anthonet, also known as Ann.

In a statement released by his media team, the senator said the arrest followed what he called false, damaging, and criminally defamatory allegations made against him and his family.

According to the statement, Ann was taken into custody over claims that Senator Nwoko physically assaulted his wife, Laila Nwoko, and caused a miscarriage. However, the senator strongly denied the accusation.

“These claims are entirely false. No such incident occurred, and no miscarriage resulted from any alleged violence,” the statement said.

The clarification comes amid intense public debate online, where the incident had been framed by some as suppression.

However, Nwoko’s camp insisted the matter goes beyond social media.

The media team stressed that the Ned Nwoko arrest controversy is based on evidence already submitted to security agencies.

Moreover, they said investigations were already underway before the arrest.

In addition, the statement alleged that Ann was linked to the procurement of an illegal abortion for actress Regina Daniels during her marriage to the senator.

The claim has further fueled reactions.

“Ms. Izuegbu Anthonet is also implicated in the procurement of an illegal abortion for Regina Daniels during her lawful marriage to Senator Ned Munir Nwoko,” the statement read.

It further claimed the issue was previously documented and publicly referenced. Meanwhile, the senator said the legality of the matter does not change based on shifting narratives.

A formal witness statement dated October 29, 2025, was also cited. It was reportedly submitted to the Maitama Police Station.

The document allegedly detailed repeated activities involving illegal substances.

Furthermore, it named suppliers and provided observations to law enforcement authorities.

“These matters are presently under investigation by the appropriate agencies,” the statement added.

According to Nwoko’s team, the arrest followed a social media post where Ann allegedly issued threats and repeated defamatory remarks. Therefore, they said the action taken was lawful.

“This post constituted provocation, intimidation, and criminal defamation under applicable law,” the statement said.

However, the senator emphasized restraint. He said his family would allow due process to take its full course without public confrontation.

“It is important to emphasise that this matter is not a social media dispute but a law-enforcement issue grounded in evidence,” the statement noted.

Therefore, Nwoko urged the public to rely on verified facts rather than rumours. As of press time, investigations were still ongoing.
