WAEC result portal crashes after releasing worst WASSCE results in a decade, fueling outrage over English failures and technical issues. In an unforeseen twist, the WAEC result portal crashed on Wednesday evening just days after announcing the worst WASSCE results in a decade.
The crash came at a time when tension was already high among candidates, many of whom were disappointed by poor scores, especially in English Language.
WAEC confirmed the crash was due to technical issues, sparking even more public outcry and suspicion over the 2025 results.
In a post shared on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, @waecnigeria, the exam body said the issue was being addressed.
“WAEC hereby informs the general public that the result checker portal @waecdirect.org is temporarily shut down due to technical issues,” the statement read.
It added, “The Council is working assiduously to ensure that candidates are able to access their results in the next 24 hours.”

However, many candidates and parents said the explanation was not enough, especially with the volume of complaints about this year’s results.
WAEC earlier disclosed that only 38.32% of candidates obtained credit passes in five subjects including English and Mathematics.
This was the lowest pass rate in over ten years, raising questions about exam conditions, grading fairness, and WAEC’s internal processes.
Several candidates shared their troubling experiences on X, claiming exams were delayed and poorly managed.
User @_samad1 posted, “We started writing at 8 pm under torchlights. They gave us just an hour to complete a paper meant to last over two hours.”
Another user, @sikimark added, “The English exam was a disaster. If JAMB can make corrections, why can’t WAEC? This is a national embarrassment.”
Parents also joined in the outrage. One, using the handle @Johnway11145073, said, “My daughter had multiple A1s and B2s, yet somehow got D7 in English. It doesn’t add up.”
Another user, @DEYHOT_official, wrote, “WAEC, please look into the English results. This is crushing the dreams of hardworking students and parents.”
Meanwhile, some users are now calling for a full investigation into this year’s exam process.
Meanwhile, the WAEC result portal crash has worsened public confidence in the 2025 exam cycle.
Candidates and parents are demanding not only access to their results but also fairness, accuracy, and accountability.
