Viral Jogging Video: Nigeria Police Launches Probe into Armed Escort of Angela Okorie

A trending video featuring actress Angela Okorie jogging with armed escorts has prompted a formal investigation by the Nigeria Police Force.

The video, which quickly caught the attention of the public, shows Okorie being trailed by armed officers during a casual run, sparking mixed reactions online.

While the actress appeared unbothered in the clip, it was the presence of uniformed men with firearms that drew criticism.

Many questioned the appropriateness of police involvement in such an activity, especially outside of an official or emergency setting.

Reacting to the public outcry, the Nigeria Police, through its spokesperson Olumuyiwa Adejobi, issued a statement on its official X page on Wednesday.

The force expressed strong disapproval of the officers’ conduct, describing it as unprofessional and inconsistent with the standards expected from personnel.

According to the statement, “The Nigeria Police Force strongly frowns at the conduct of armed police officers seen in a viral video trailing actress Angela Okorie while she jogged—an act considered clearly inconsistent with the professional standards and decorum expected of personnel of the Force.”

The police spokesperson added that although it is unclear if the video was taken on a movie set, the Force is taking the matter seriously.

Adejobi emphasized that an internal review is underway to understand the full context and determine whether any official protocols were violated.

“While it remains unclear whether the scene was part of a scripted production, the conduct of the officers seen in the video falls short of the standards expected of members of the Nigeria Police Force,” he said.

“Accordingly, necessary administrative processes have been initiated to identify the officers involved and determine the circumstances surrounding the video, while appropriate disciplinary action will be taken based on the outcome of the review.”

Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports suggest that the scene may be related to Okorie’s latest project, Queens of Guns, which she has been actively promoting.

However, the actress is yet to issue an official comment on the incident.

Public reactions continue to pour in across social media. One user, @issyluv, remarked, “They are private citizens, they should be able to hire the services of private security… In a sane country, that’s what needs to be done.”

Another, @thebishopoflagos, questioned the Force’s priorities, saying, “Una get standard? Smh.” Meanwhile, others saw no harm, with @mattizcomedy writing, “I really do not see anything wrong with the police men jogging with her.”

While the debate continues online, the Nigeria Police Force has promised thorough investigations.
