In a move many fans did not see coming, Inter Miami striker Luis Suárez has revealed his dream to retire alongside Lionel Messi.
The pair, once an unstoppable force at FC Barcelona, have been teammates again in the United States for nearly two years.
Their partnership has already brought global attention to Major League Soccer. Now, Suárez has admitted he is not ready to see that bond end anytime soon.
In an interview with the club’s website, the Uruguayan opened up about his future.
He said that decisions at this stage of their careers depend on both personal and family matters.
“We’re both at a stage where we’ll make decisions based on ourselves and our families.
Of course, I’d love to retire with him we’ve talked about it for years but it depends on what each of us decides,” Suárez explained.
The striker confirmed he is happy with his current role at Inter Miami and remains open to finishing his career in the United States.
“I’m happy here, I feel good physically, and if the club wants me to retire here, there won’t be any problem,” he added.
However, Suárez was quick to acknowledge that not every game goes as planned.
He admitted that even at this stage in his career, he holds himself to high standards.
“I know sometimes I can give more. I want to contribute more to the team, but in football there are circumstances where things don’t go your way. I criticize myself, but what matters is helping Inter continue to grow, winning games and titles,” he said.
While retirement has been discussed, Suárez stressed that he is still focused on enjoying football for as long as possible.
“Individually, we’ll see what happens later in football nothing is guaranteed. For now, I want to enjoy this stage, and then we’ll see what the future brings,” he noted.
Suárez, however, has added an unexpected twist by suggesting they might close their careers together at Inter Miami.
