Trump Gives Iran More Time Amid Growing Oil Route Crisis

U.S. President Donald Trump extended a critical deadline tied to the Strait of Hormuz.

The Iran Strait of Hormuz crisis has taken another dramatic turn. Trump announced a 10-day extension for Iran to reopen the key oil route. However, the warning remains firm, with threats targeting Iran’s energy infrastructure if demands are ignored.

Moreover, the situation has deepened uncertainty across global markets. Energy prices have surged sharply, while fears of prolonged instability continue to grow.

Speaking during a cabinet meeting, Trump signaled a temporary pause in planned strikes. He later confirmed the decision in a public statement, emphasizing ongoing negotiations.

“Talks are ongoing and, despite erroneous statements to the contrary by the Fake News Media, and others, they are going very well,” he said.

However, Iran has denied any active negotiations with Washington. This contradiction has raised questions about the true state of diplomatic efforts.

The Strait of Hormuz remains a critical global oil route. About 20 percent of the world’s oil supply passes through it daily.

In addition, reports indicate that Iran has effectively restricted movement in the area. As a result, global shipping and energy supply chains have been disrupted significantly.

While Trump claimed Iran requested a pause, other reports challenge this assertion. According to sources cited by international media, Iran did not formally ask for a 10-day extension.

Meanwhile, confusion has been amplified by ongoing military actions. Airstrikes have reportedly hit residential areas in cities like Tehran and Qom.

In one incident, at least six people were killed after homes were struck in Qom. Rescue operations have since been carried out, with survivors pulled from rubble.
