The Nigerian Army troops have rescued 21 kidnapped victims during a major operation in Plateau State.
The operation, which targeted criminal hideouts, has brought renewed attention to the Plateau bandits operation and its growing impact.
According to military sources, the coordinated raid was carried out in the early hours of April 9. It involved troops of the 33 Artillery Brigade alongside operatives from the Office of the National Security Adviser.
Meanwhile, the mission focused on clearing bandits’ enclaves located in Daji Madam Forest. Key areas such as Dogo Ruwa and Bogwas were identified as major targets.
Furthermore, additional support was provided by a Combat Support Infantry Battalion stationed at Mansur. Blocking positions were strategically mounted to prevent suspects from escaping the area.
In addition, members of the Civilian Joint Task Force supported the operation by securing critical crossing points.

During the raid, troops reportedly engaged armed elements within the forest. Several camps were cleared, including one linked to a known bandit leader.
A source confirmed the outcome, stating, “In the course of the operation, troops rescued 21 kidnapped victims and destroyed several motorcycles belonging to the bandits.”
Moreover, weapons and other items were recovered from the camps. These included a G3 rifle, magazines, generating sets, and a solar panel.
Meanwhile, the rescued victims are expected to receive medical attention and proper debriefing. Efforts are also underway to reunite them with their families.
However, security officials have warned that operations are still ongoing in the region. Troops continue to patrol nearby areas to eliminate any remaining threats.
Therefore, this success is being seen as a significant step in weakening criminal networks.
This is good but they shouldn’t just rescue. I want to hear terrorists’ bodies count
