Tottenham Hotspur captain, Son Heung-min, has taken a bold step by filing a police complaint against a woman who allegedly tried to blackmail him using a fake pregnancy claim.
According to Yonhap News Agency and The Korea Times, two individuals a woman in her 20s and a man in his 40s—are being investigated for attempted extortion in Seoul.
Son’s legal team alleges that the woman falsely claimed to be pregnant in June 2023 and attempted to extort hundreds of millions of won in exchange for keeping silent.
“His legal team claim that she claimed she was pregnant in June last year and demanded money in return for remaining silent,” sources stated.
This, however, has been officially denied by the footballer, who maintains that the entire situation was fabricated to damage his name and reputation.

The 32-year-old forward, who has no wife or children, made the report to the police last week.
Son has previously shared his views on family and football. In a 2019 interview with The Guardian, he said,
“My father says this and I agree, as well. When you marry, the number one will be family, wife and kids, and then football. I want to make sure that while I play at the top level, football can be number one.”
He continued, “You don’t know how long you can play at the top level. When you retire, or when you are 33 or 34, you can still have a long life with your family.”
Moreover, Son has always prioritized his football career, which is why he has avoided family distractions.
Meanwhile, it is known that he had previously dated Korean pop stars Bang Min-ah and Yoo So-young.
As of now, his contract with Tottenham Hotspur is set to expire next year.
However, fans and supporters have rallied behind him, believing his stand will inspire others to speak up when targeted unfairly.
