Tragedy struck Budva, Montenegro, on May 28, 2025, as Tijana Radonjic, a 19-year-old Serbian model and social media influencer, lost her life during a parasailing activity.
Tijana was on holiday with her aunt when she accepted a free parasailing ride from a local company.
The ride was believed to be part of a promotional shoot.
What should have been a joyful experience turned fatal after Tijana reportedly unbuckled her safety harness mid-air due to a panic attack.
Eyewitnesses at the beach said they heard her scream for help and saw her struggle with the safety straps.
One witness said she appeared visibly distressed.
According to local reports, she fell approximately 160 feet into the Adriatic Sea.
Emergency responders acted swiftly, retrieving her from the water.
Her body has since been handed over to her family, who strongly denied any suggestions of suicide.
Authorities in Montenegro have launched a full investigation into the Tijana Radonjic parasailing accident.
The equipment used during the flight is being inspected. In addition, the company involved in organizing the ride is being questioned.
A company representative told Republika that she had completed safety training before the flight.
“She did not show any fear of flying. She underwent training. She was in a good mood, waved to her friends on the beach, and showed no fear of flying,” he said.
The autopsy has been completed, but the results are yet to be released.
Officials say the cause of death will be confirmed after the full report is in.
