After nearly two decades of being in a coma, Saudi Arabia’s Prince Alwaleed bin Khaled bin Talal has passed away.
The young royal, known widely as the “Sleeping Prince,” died after battling for life following a devastating car accident in 2005.
His father, Prince Khaled bin Talal, confirmed the heartbreaking news on Saturday.
“With profound sadness and sorrow, we announce the death of our beloved son, Prince Alwaleed,” a statement from the family read.
The funeral is expected to be held in Riyadh on Sunday.
Prince Alwaleed’s story became one of hope, faith, and deep emotional connection across the Arab world.

His condition sparked prayers from millions who believed in the power of healing and held on to the possibility of his full recovery.
The Saudi prince, who was just a teenager when the accident happened in London, had remained in a coma ever since.
Over the years, his name became known beyond Saudi Arabia, with many regarding him as a symbol of courage and unwavering strength.
Videos shared by his family showed moments that gave hope.
One particular video released five years ago captured him slightly moving his fingers while on life support.
It gave family members and followers across the world a small, but significant sign of life.

Moreover, his loved ones often posted photos of him draped in the Saudi flag, with words like “Our Country is in Our Hearts” boldly written.
These visuals kept his story alive on social media, turning his condition into a quiet movement of hope and solidarity.
In addition, the prince was the nephew of Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, one of the most prominent investors in Saudi Arabia.
This connection added to the public interest in his well-being, especially within royal and political circles.
His case also highlighted the emotional cost of long-term coma care and how families cling to every sign, no matter how small.
Though his body has now found rest, the emotional weight of his journey will not be forgotten soon.
May his soul rest in peace.
