Russian Missile Strike Kills Four in Kyiv, Wounds 10 in Zaporizhzhia

A Russian missile strike killed four people in Kyiv’s Shevchenkivsky district on Saturday, city officials confirmed.

The attack also left three others injured in the Ukrainian capital, where casualties are typically rare due to robust air defense systems.

Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga condemned the strike as a “heinous” act of aggression, adding, “Yet another proof that Putin wants war, not peace.

He must be forced to accept a just peace through strength—maximum economic and military pressure.”

The Ukrainian air force reported downing two Iskander ballistic missiles and 24 Russian attack drones overnight.

However, debris from the intercepted missiles fell on central Kyiv, damaging residential buildings, a subway station, and an industrial facility, while also disrupting water supplies temporarily.

The attack also set a McDonald’s outlet ablaze, leaving the site in ruins. Residents expressed shock at the destruction, with one witness describing the scene as “chaotic and heartbreaking.”

In Zaporizhzhia, another overnight strike targeted the city center. Regional governor Ivan Fedorov described the attack as a “cynical” move, stating that it occurred while residents were asleep.

Ten people were wounded, with one in critical condition.

Local emergency services worked tirelessly to provide aid and contain the damage, while officials warned of potential follow-up attacks.

The attacks come amidst Ukraine’s intensifying aerial strikes on Russian energy and military facilities in recent months, including major hits on oil depots near military airfields.

Meanwhile, Kyiv continues to bolster its defenses as it grapples with ongoing aggression from Russian forces.

Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and prioritize their safety amid escalating tensions.
