Reports has it that Rishi Sunak has been announced as the new Prime Minister of United Kingdom after his challenger, Penny Mordaunt pulled out of the contest which automatically leaves Sunak as the only Conservative Party member for the race.
This was announced as the new leader of the UK in a tweet on the Conservatives Twitter handle on Monday. Sir Graham Brady, chair of the 1922 Committee, says he can confirm there has been one valid nomination, “and Rishi Sunak is therefore elected as leader of the Conservative party.
Sunak,42 is going to address Tory MPs at 2.30pm in the Commons. He will also become the first person of color(Hindu) to lead the UK, and the youngest to do so in more than 200 years.
This will be the first time Sunak has spoken in public since Liz Truss resigned.
