President Bola Tinubu has revoked the appointment of Yazid Shehu Umar Danfulani as the executive secretary of the Solid Minerals Development Fund/Presidential Artisanal Gold Mining Initiative (SMDF/PAGMI).
This decision, announced just hours after Danfulani’s initial appointment, was part of a broader statement released by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga on Friday.
In the updated announcement, the presidency clarified that Fatima Umaru Shinkafi would continue in her role as the executive secretary of SMDF/PAGMI, with her appointment being renewed.
Shinkafi, first appointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari, has been credited as a key figure in advancing reforms in the solid minerals sector.
“The earlier announcement about the appointment of Yazid Shehu Umar Danfulani…has been cancelled as there is no vacancy in the agency,” the statement read.
Meanwhile, President Tinubu also approved other key appointments, including Prof. Abdullahi Ribadu as executive secretary of a national organization and Prof.
Salisu Shehu as Executive Secretary of the NERDC. The president’s swift decision-making reflects his commitment to ensuring capable leadership across critical sectors, fostering trust and progress in governance.
