Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has once again stirred public debate, this time with an unexpected appearance shortly after regaining freedom.
The street-pop star was seen performing at an event only hours after leaving custody, leaving many fans surprised by both his presence and a noticeable change in his look.
In a viral video circulating online, Portable was captured freestyling energetically before a cheerful crowd.
However, beyond the music, attention was quickly drawn to his appearance. The singer had completely shaved off his hair, a drastic move that many netizens interpreted as symbolic.
Meanwhile, the moment came as a shock, given the serious events that unfolded days earlier.
The Portable haircut after release quickly became a trending topic across social platforms, as users debated its meaning and timing.
Some described it as a sign of a new chapter. However, others questioned his mental state following the ordeal.

Last week, Priscimedia reported that Portable was arrested following a complaint filed by his actress babymama, Ashabi.
In a video that later went viral, the singer was seen struggling to escape as several people restrained him. The arrest was confirmed after the incident escalated.
Moreover, the singer was arraigned at a High Court in Onipanu on multiple charges.
These included assault, felony occasioning harm, and resisting arrest.
He was accused of attacking Ashabi and obstructing a female police inspector, Ogungbe Olayemi, during her official duty.
Consequently, Portable was remanded in custody pending consideration of his bail application on January 19.
In addition, details of an earlier domestic dispute resurfaced online.
On New Year’s Day, Portable and Ashabi reportedly had a heated argument. Ashabi later claimed the singer assaulted her and her siblings during a visit.
She alleged that he slapped her, seized their phones, and attacked her brother and sister, forcing her to seek refuge.
However, Portable denied the claims in an Instagram video. He alleged that Ashabi attacked his household, stating that his pregnant wife was beaten and weapons were pointed at his children. These conflicting accounts have remained under investigation.
Following his release, public reactions poured in rapidly. One toluwatee wrote, “You people no tell Portable the truth, this guy doesn’t look okay.”
Another user, omooba_ijiniga, commented, “This week go long, I don use my food money to buy data.” A third reaction from Young Prince simply read, “Oh no,” while idara.j added, “So taking plug can sign him.”
Therefore, as conversations continue, the Portable haircut after release has become more than a style change.
