Phyna Fires Back at Dangote Group’s Response to Sister’s Accident

Reality TV star Josephina “Phyna” Otabor has rejected the Dangote Group’s official response to the accident involving its truck and her younger sister, calling it “ironic” given the severity of the injuries sustained.

The company confirmed on Thursday that its senior officials and insurance team visited Ruth Otabor and her family after the incident in Auchi, Edo State.

Ruth reportedly lost one leg in the crash and faces the risk of losing the other.

“Following the recent accident in Auchi, Edo State, which sadly resulted in injury to Mrs. Ruth Otabor, senior officials from Dangote Cement PLC, together with our insurance team, promptly visited the scene and engaged with law enforcement agencies,” the statement read.

Dangote Group stressed its “unwavering commitment” to the well-being of those affected.

The company promised to cover all medical expenses and provide compensation in line with its welfare policy.

“We wish Mrs. Ruth Otabor a quick recovery,” the statement added.

However, Phyna, a former Big Brother Naija winner, expressed frustration with the wording of the statement.

“Appropriate compensation? Quick recovery from an already amputated leg? What necessary speed are you taking right now? Let’s not forget the bike man, who is also in critical condition,” she wrote in response.

A day before the company’s statement, Phyna had publicly accused Dangote Group of instructing police to remove the plate number from the truck involved in the crash.

She also claimed that despite the presence of company representatives at the police station, none had visited her sister before the public outrage.

“You have money, but you are not God. My God is bigger. Enough is enough, you have hurt too many people, but this time, it won’t be the same,” she warned.

The Dangote truck accident has since become a trending topic, sparking debates over corporate accountability and road safety.

Meanwhile, both Ruth Otabor and the motorbike rider involved remain in critical condition as the investigation continues.
