A prophetess, Mrs. Folashade Adekola, has been taken into custody by the Ondo State Police Command following the death of a mother, Jumoke Adesuwa, and her newborn shortly after childbirth in the prophetess’s church in Akure.
According to the state police public relations officer, Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami, the deceased woman suffered severe bleeding due to complications from childbirth, with the baby passing immediately and the mother later succumbing to her injuries after being rejected by multiple hospitals.
Mrs. Odunlami confirmed that the prophetess was detained after the deceased’s family reported the incident.
A family source recounted the tragic sequence, explaining that when the husband arrived at the church, he found his wife in a critical condition and saw her bleeding heavily.
“She was rejected at three hospitals and died in the process of reviving her in the last hospital that admitted her,” he shared.
The situation highlights the challenges many face in accessing proper medical care, often turning to unregulated alternatives due to financial constraints.
This tragic incident underscores the pressing need for improved healthcare accessibility and resources to prevent similar losses in the future.
