Speaking on behalf of the monarchs, the Olowo of Owo and Chairman of the Ondo State Council of Obas, Oba Ajibade Ogunoye, expressed appreciation to the governor for fulfilling his promise.

He noted that the vehicles were not just tokens of appreciation but a reflection of Aiyedatiwa’s commitment to inclusive leadership.

“This gesture symbolises the governor’s respect and commitment to the traditional institution,” Oba Ogunoye said.

“He has proven to be a man of his word, and we remain loyal partners in ensuring peace and progress in the state.”

The monarchs praised the governor’s administration for consistently recognising their role in community building.

They described the distribution of the new Toyota SUVs as an example of his government’s recognition of their contribution to grassroots development.

Governor Aiyedatiwa, while presenting the vehicles, explained that his decision stemmed from his administration’s belief that traditional rulers are critical to governance and community progress.

He said, “Our traditional leaders are the closest to the people. Their welfare will always remain a top priority for this government.”

According to him, Grade ‘A’ Obas received Toyota Fortuner 2025 models, while Grade ‘B’ and ‘C’ Obas would soon take delivery of Toyota Cross 2025 models.

In addition, Aiyedatiwa highlighted some of his administration’s efforts to uplift the traditional institution.

He recalled the completion of the long-abandoned secretariat for the Council of Obas and the consistent release of the statutory five per cent allocation from local government funds.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Amidu Takuro, described the event as evidence of the governor’s gratitude for the monarchs’ cooperation in maintaining peace and order.

“The presentation of these vehicles shows that the administration values the role of traditional rulers in promoting unity and development,” Takuro said.

He further urged the royal fathers to use the vehicles responsibly in serving their communities, assuring them that the government would continue to nurture the strong partnership with traditional institutions.

Furthermore, Governor Aiyedatiwa reaffirmed his appreciation to the royal fathers for their support, describing them as vital partners in driving progress at the grassroots.

“The contribution of our traditional rulers to peace and governance can never be overlooked,” he said.
