The Nigerian entertainment industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of Monalisa Stephen, a well-known Nollywood actress and body-positive influencer.
Her sudden passing has left fans and colleagues in deep shock, as another vibrant and beautiful soul has been lost.
According to reports confirmed on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, Monalisa passed away a day earlier, on Tuesday, after battling health complications.
The heartbreaking news was shared by Seun Oloketuyi, the CEO of the Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards, through his verified Instagram page.
“Brand influencer Monalisa Ayobami Stephen is dead, she died yesterday in Lagos after losing the fight against low sugar and internal bleeding.
Her immediate younger sister confirmed the death of this hardworking and beautiful soul,” Oloketuyi wrote.
She was known for using her social media platforms to empower others, especially those struggling with body image.
Despite being plus-sized, she often stated that she felt comfortable in her skin and wanted others to embrace their bodies too.
