Nigeria played with control, hunger, and sharp focus, therefore sending a strong message ahead of the knockout rounds.

The result confirmed Nigeria’s place at the top of the group with “maximum points,” marking only the second time the country has achieved a perfect AFCON group record.

The achievement further strengthens confidence around the squad’s depth and balance.

Head coach Eric Chelle made several changes to his lineup. However, the team’s structure and intent were clearly maintained.

Nigeria lined up in an attacking 4-4-2 formation, pairing Victor Osimhen with Paul Onuachu up front.

Meanwhile, debutant Ryan Alebiosu earned his first senior start at right-back.

Uganda, needing a win to survive, began with urgency. They pressed high and moved the ball quickly.

Moreover, Mutyaba controlled the midfield early, while Mato caused problems from wide areas. Nigeria initially absorbed the pressure before gradually taking command.

The breakthrough arrived in the 28th minute. After missing an earlier opportunity, Onuachu stayed composed and finished from close range.

The move was calmly set up by Dele-Bashiru, and the goal shifted momentum firmly.

Early in the second half, the match turned sharply. Uganda goalkeeper Jamal Salim was sent off for handling outside the box while stopping Osimhen.

As a result, Uganda were reduced to ten men, and control slipped away.

Nigeria quickly took advantage. Raphael Onyedika doubled the lead in the 62nd minute after a neat release from Samuel Chukwueze.

Furthermore, five minutes later, Onyedika struck again, completing his brace from another Chukwueze assist.

At 3–0, the contest was effectively decided. Uganda later pulled one back through Mato after an Okello pass.

However, the goal only offered brief relief and changed nothing.

Nigeria managed the closing stages calmly. Possession was controlled, pressure was reduced, and energy was conserved. Therefore, the Super Eagles exited the group stage with confidence and momentum.
