A major drug trafficking network has been exposed after operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency uncovered a shocking concealment method.
Cocaine was hidden inside tins of palm kernel extract meant for export to the United Kingdom.
The NDLEA drug bust in Lagos has led to multiple arrests, including the alleged kingpin. The operation, which unfolded over weeks.
Moreover, authorities say the syndicate used everyday items to avoid detection. However, their plan was eventually uncovered through intelligence-led tracking.
The breakthrough came on March 11, 2026, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja. Officers intercepted 3.10 kilograms of cocaine concealed in packaged tins.
Two suspects linked to the shipment were immediately arrested. Furthermore, investigations continued, leading to deeper discoveries.

A follow-up operation on April 2 resulted in the arrest of another suspect. He was said to be operating under a false identity.
Meanwhile, this arrest led operatives to the alleged leader of the syndicate. The suspect was later tracked and apprehended at a hideout in Isolo, Lagos.In addition, NDLEA officers raided a warehouse connected to the suspect.
Hundreds of empty tins prepared for concealment were recovered. Equipment used for sealing and repackaging was also found on site.
Authorities confirmed that the suspect admitted to draining oil from the tins. This process allowed cocaine to be hidden without raising suspicion.
However, the operation did not end in Lagos. Similar enforcement actions were carried out across multiple states.
In Borno State, a woman was arrested with a strong strain of cannabis. She is suspected of supplying illegal drugs to armed groups.
Meanwhile, in Lagos, a pastor and his wife were arrested at a checkpoint. Drugs were found hidden inside their vehicle.
In addition, arrests were made in Adamawa, Osun, Ondo, Edo, Oyo, and Benue states. Large quantities of illegal substances were seized.
The scale of the arrests highlights a growing concern over drug trafficking in Nigeria. However, authorities insist that efforts are being strengthened.
The NDLEA chairman praised officers for their dedication and success. He noted that improved intelligence has played a key role.
Moreover, the agency continues its War Against Drug Abuse campaign nationwide. Awareness programmes are being carried out in schools and communities.
