Taking to X late Friday, the award-winning singer made it clear that he was never seeking full custody of his daughter.

“I never asked for full custody … I asked for joint custody. Nobody won, nobody lost but Imade … so I don’t know why some pple r celebrating. There’s nothing to celebrate,” he wrote.

He added that he had chosen to discontinue the case after a painful courtroom exchange.

“I’ve decided to drop the case because … until she brought out her last card! MY DECEASED SON! THAT’S A NO NO! Lowest blow!” he stated.

The emotional post quickly went viral. Fans expressed mixed reactions, with some praising his decision while others questioned what transpired in court.

Davido further wrote, “My daughter will grow up knowing I fought for her … let’s move on. One love!”

On Instagram, he intensified his criticism of opposing counsel.

“I disgraced you in the courtroom … I was teaching you your work … and then went on to mention my son. Like I said in the courtroom, I pray you never go through what me and my wife have gone through ever.”

The Davido Imade custody case was formally initiated in April 2024. Court documents showed he sought joint custody of Miss Imade Adeleke. Alternatively, he requested “unfettered and unrestricted access” to his daughter.

In a sworn affidavit, Davido stated that he had consistently supported his child’s education and welfare.

“It is on record that I have been responsible for the payment of all the school fees of my daughter to provide her with the best education possible and to meet all her educational needs without a hitch,” he stated.

Meanwhile, courtroom tensions were earlier hinted at by Lagos-based lawyer Maruf Muhammed. He wrote, “Davido in High Court, Yaba now! Come and see drama in court. The lawyer made 001 lose his patience during cross-examination o! Be you never so high, the law is above you.”

Another user later clarified that the matter involved “his daughter, Imade’s custody.”

The custody dispute between Davido and Sophia Momodu has drawn public interest for years. However, recent appearances had suggested a calmer co-parenting relationship. Imade was recently seen celebrating a talent contest win alongside her father.

Although the legal process has now been halted, the emotional weight of the issue remains clear.
For now, Davido says he is choosing peace.
