Mohbad’s Widow Accuses Late Husband’s Father of Stalling DNA Test for Son’s Paternity Dispute

The widow of late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, better known as Mohbad, has accused his father, Joseph Aloba, of delaying a court-ordered DNA test to resolve the paternity dispute of her son, Liam.

Through her legal team, Salawu Akingbolu Chambers, Omowunmi alleged that Mr. Aloba has refused to agree on a medical facility for the test.

In a letter dated January 9, 2025, Omowunmi’s lawyers explained that while she objected to Mr. Aloba’s preferred facility, the University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan, he also rejected her suggested facility, Lagoon Hospitals.

To address the stalemate, Omowunmi proposed Eko Hospital and Reddington Hospital as alternatives but claimed Mohbad’s father Mr. Aloba had failed to respond.

The letter stated, “To our utter surprise, instead of you responding to our letter, we saw Mr. Taiwo Odumosu, counsel to the applicant, making false claims on social media.”

The ongoing legal tussle stems from a Magistrates Court in Ikorodu, Lagos State, which directed both parties to conduct the DNA test at a mutually agreed facility under supervision.

However, Omowunmi expressed frustration over the delays and warned of her intent to proceed independently if the situation remains unresolved.

She also accused Mr. Aloba of tarnishing her son’s image by portraying him as a “bastard” on social media, stating, “We shall inform the court of our position in this regard.”

In response, Mr. Aloba’s former legal team, Hillceetee Partners, denied allegations of misrepresentation.

A letter signed by lawyer Emmanuel Oroko clarified, “There was no time during Mr. Odumosu’s media interaction that he mentioned your client ‘was not ready for the DNA.’”

The letter explained that the delays were due to hospitals’ unresponsiveness and expressed respect for both legal teams involved in the case.

However, Hillceetee Partners announced their withdrawal from representing Mr. Aloba.

The case has garnered widespread attention, with Omowunmi’s determination to clear her name and protect her son’s legacy drawing public support.

The court’s intervention is now seen as crucial to resolving the issue and ensuring clarity for all parties involved.
