The Nasarawa State Police Command has remanded Timileyin Ajayi, a 32-year-old man, in custody for the alleged murder of a 24-year-old corps member, Salome Adaidu.
The tragic incident occurred during Adaidu’s visit to Ajayi’s residence in the Papalana area of New Karshi, Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. 
Ajayi was arrested on Sunday, January 12, while attempting to dispose of the severed head of his victim after allegedly dismembering her body.
He was paraded at the Nasarawa State Police Command headquarters with the weapons—knife and machetes—allegedly used in the crime.
In an exclusive interview with Channels Television, Ajayi admitted to the killing, claiming it stemmed from jealousy.
“I killed her because we don’t have each other all the time. It’s not something I planned… I saw her chats with other guys on the phone; that was why I decided,” he confessed.
When asked about regret, he shockingly added, “I don’t have any regrets because life is reciprocal.
You have to understand what someone is going through.”
Meanwhile, the victim’s family has denied any knowledge of a relationship between Adaidu and the suspect.
Her elder sister, Esther Adaidu, revealed, “This so-called Timi guy, we don’t know him… He murdered my sister, and he confirmed it to me.”
Her uncle, Samson Adaji Adaidu, further described the crime, saying, “He butchered her into pieces and left the body in six polythene bags. It’s as though he was preparing it for consumption.”

“The investigation is ongoing, and the suspect will be arraigned in court for prosecution. Members of the public with additional complaints should come forward,” he stated.
Although some reports referred to Ajayi as a gospel singer, he identified himself as a cryptocurrency trader during the interview.
The incident, which has sparked outrage, serves as a grim reminder of the need for vigilance and caution in personal relationships.
It also highlights the importance of addressing emotional and mental health issues to prevent such devastating acts.
The police have called for further cooperation to ensure justice is delivered in this deeply painful case.
