Nollywood actress and body positivity advocate, Monalisa Stephen, will be laid to rest today, May 22, 2025.
Her family confirmed this in an emotional statement shared via her official Instagram page.
The post revealed that her burial will be a private ceremony in accordance with her wishes and the family’s decision.
According to the statement, “We lay our beloved Monalisa Ayobami Stephen to rest this Thursday, May 22nd, 2025. In honor of her wishes and the family’s, this will be a private ceremony.”
Monalisa Stephen passed away in Lagos on May 13, reportedly following a battle with low blood sugar and internal bleeding.
Her death came as a shock to fans, friends, and many in the Nollywood community who had admired her boldness and outspokenness.
The late actress was known for using her platform to promote self-love and body confidence, especially among plus-sized women.
Over the years, she remained vocal about mental health, body shaming, and societal pressure, earning her admiration across social media.
Her family further wrote in the statement, “We ask for continued prayers and respect for her memory during this time. Forever in our hearts.”
Meanwhile, the family has requested that the burial remain private, urging the public and fans to honor their decision and pray for her peaceful rest.
