A landlord in the Igando area of Lagos State is currently on the run after threatening to kill a 300-level female student of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) over her refusal to give in to his alleged inappropriate advances.
The disturbing incident, which has since sparked outrage on social media, came to light after the student shared a video of the altercation on TikTok under the username @auraa_ural.
In the video, the landlord whose identity has not been publicly revealed was captured issuing terrifying threats.
“I will end your life. I’ll use ₦500,000 to bury everything,” he could be heard saying while being restrained by another man present at the scene.
“You’re nothing; ₦500,000 will take care of it,” he added, visibly enraged.
The visibly shaken student made it clear in the video that her refusal to grant the landlord sexual favours was what led to the attack.
According to her, the incident was just one in a series of harassment she has faced since moving into the apartment.

She explained that the socket in her apartment was faulty, and the landlord had instructed her to charge her phone in his own flat.
“During the first visit to his apartment, he started making inappropriate comments. He’d message me late at night and sometimes knock on my door asking me to come out to ‘chill,’” she said.
“Later on, he stopped responding to my greetings and even began hitting me,” she added.
“On Sunday, he came with a plank and tried to beat me. A neighbour had to step in to stop him.”
The student reported the incident to the Igando Police Division.
However, by the time officers arrived, the landlord had already fled the premises.
Confirming the report, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, said:
“She reported the incident at the station, but the landlord fled. We are searching for him and will take appropriate action once he is located.”
Meanwhile, the video has gained traction online, with many users calling for justice and condemning the landlord’s actions.
Advocacy groups have also joined in, demanding swift police action and better protection for tenants especially women living in rented properties.
