A painful situation has shaken the Nigerian music community as legendary Juju singer, King Sunny Ade, has reportedly been kidnapped.
His daughter, Damilola Esther Adeniyi-Adegeye, raised the alarm, calling for support and urgent attention to her father’s safety.
On April 28, 2025, media personality @Akanbitheduke on Instagram shared a detailed post amplifying Damilola’s cries for help.
According to him, all personal efforts to reach the 78-year-old musician had failed.
Moreover, a friend had reached out to him on behalf of King Sunny Ade’s daughter, expressing serious concerns.
In the post, Akanbi explained that even King Sunny Ade’s close friends had been unable to contact him.
He wrote, “What further created serious worry for Damilola, according to her, was that the last time she spoke to KSA, he sounded distressed, and the phone was quickly taken away from him.
Ever since, he has not been reachable. Although Damilola had since embarked on a personal rigorous campaign for her father, it seemed like her voice had been drowned by the fact that no one reckoned with her.”
Furthermore, Damilola accused King Sunny Ade’s manager, Dayo, who is also his stepbrother, along with other siblings, of abducting the music legend.
According to her, they had reportedly been forcing him into multiple shows without allowing him to perform properly, thereby damaging his image.
In addition, Damilola revealed that they had taken control of King Sunny Ade’s finances, sidelining his biological children in the process.
She expressed deep pain over the situation, especially recalling her last conversation with her father.
Meanwhile, in the comment section of the post, Damilola shared more troubling details about her father’s current condition.
She stated, “My dad is working under duress and the real family is looking for him but the manager is keeping him away from home and his office as well, the manager, his mum and the driver has been taking him to different hotels!”
She further revealed disturbing facts about his health, saying,
“Dad told his 1st born that he wants to go home but they keep telling him to stay in hotels for his own good; while they pump him with sleeping medications because of his insomnia; he is 78 years old and they keep making him play at shows even after one of his daughter just died and he has not had time to mourn yet!!! I want my dad out of their bondage now!!! Please help me!!!”
