Until this announcement, AIG Disu was in charge of the Special Protection Unit, SPU.

However, the redeployment was described as part of broader efforts to strengthen leadership and improve operational efficiency within the Nigeria Police Force.

According to NAOSNP, “The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun had approved the immediate posting of AIG Olatunji Disu as the new Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Force CID Annex Alagbon Lagos.”

The association added that the deployment is with immediate effect.

The Force CID Annex in Alagbon plays a critical role in handling high-profile and sensitive criminal investigations. Therefore, Disu’s appointment is being seen as a strategic move.

Moreover, his experience is expected to boost confidence in ongoing and future investigations managed by the department.

Before his redeployment, Disu was said to have played a key role at the SPU. His tenure there was marked by coordination of complex security and investigative operations.

In addition, he has previously served as Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory Command. He also led the Rivers State Command during a demanding period.

Meanwhile, his elevation to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police on March 25, 2025, was widely viewed as recognition of his dedication. That promotion reflected years of service across several strategic commands nationwide.
