Ibrahim Chatta Speaks Out: “I’m Not Interested in AMVCA”

Nollywood actor Ibrahim Chatta has addressed his recent nomination at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), revealing he is not moved by the recognition.

The actor, known for his strong performances and dedication to his craft, shared his honest thoughts during a recent appearance on the Curiosity Made Me Ask podcast, hosted by Isbae U.

Chatta had been nominated in the Best Lead Actor category at the 11th edition of the AMVCA, which took place on Saturday night in Lagos.

However, the award was later won by Femi Adebayo for his role in Seven Doors.

Despite the nomination, Chatta made it clear that the award is not his focus.

When asked by the host, “Will you say you are not rated at your job? When you get home, pray that you should win AMVCA too,” the actor calmly replied, “I’m not interested.”

He further explained his stance by saying, “I can’t pray for something I am not interested in.

Whenever I am interested to go for AMVCA, I will make a film and submit that film.

So that I can be rated, so that they can check if I deserve the award or not.

But I have not given them any film to nominate me from.”

This honest response has sparked mixed reactions online, with many praising Chatta for staying grounded and focused on his work.

Moreover, the actor’s remarks come at a time when many in the industry view the AMVCA as a top honour.

Meanwhile, Chatta’s fans have applauded his passion for storytelling and how he consistently delivers outstanding roles across Yoruba and English films.
