The Kingdom of Ibadan is in mourning following the death of Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland, who passed away in the early hours of July 7, 2025.
His untimely departure marks the end of a reign that lasted less than a year, shortly after he celebrated his 90th birthday.

Oba Olakulehin ascended the throne in July 2024, accepting the staff of office from Governor Seyi Makinde on July 12, 2024.
Born on July 5, 1935, Oba Olakulehin served Ibadan in various chieftaincy roles before his coronation.

He rose through the ranks, holding the title of Balogun Olubadan, before his elevation to monarch following the death of his predecessor, Oba Moshood Lekan Balogun (Alli Okunmade II), who died on March 14, 2024, at age 81.
Meanwhile, the palace has indicated that final funeral arrangements will be announced in due course, following customary rites.
