He reportedly passed away on Thursday at his residence in Victoria Garden City (VGC), Lagos, at the age of 60.

While family sources confirmed his passing, allegations have emerged suggesting that it may not have been from natural causes.

In an official statement, his Personal Assistant and Media Adviser, Oyeniyi Iwakun, described Akingboye as “a man of integrity, a philanthropist, and a visionary leader.” He further revealed that burial details would be announced later.

However, reports indicate that one of his wives has been accused of involvement in his death.

A source claimed that the late politician died as a result of domestic violence, alleging that “his wife pushed him off a balcony.”

Images circulating online show bruises and deep cuts on his head and neck, raising concerns about the true circumstances surrounding his death.

Meanwhile, police authorities have confirmed that an investigation is underway.

They assured the public that the probe would be discreet but thorough, with a pledge to uncover the truth.

Civil society groups and activists have also weighed in, demanding transparency and warning against any attempt to cover up the case.

The late Akingboye was more than just a politician. He was also a successful entrepreneur, serving as CEO of Benshore Maritime, Clog Oil Systems, and President of WeAfrica Group.

His influence extended beyond politics into business and philanthropy, where he supported various youth and community initiatives.

Akingboye contested the November 2024 Ondo State governorship election under the SDP platform, running against Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the APC, Agboola Ajayi of the PDP, and other candidates.

Although he did not win, his campaign was praised for its vision and grassroots appeal.

Tributes have continued to pour in from supporters and colleagues.
