How Alleged Coup Plotters Bought 32 Vehicles to Target Tinubu’s Government

A fresh twist has emerged in the alleged coup plot against President Bola Tinubu, as investigators uncovered evidence pointing to the purchase of dozens of vehicles for covert activities.

According to security sources, individuals accused of plotting the overthrow of the Tinubu administration reportedly acquired 32 vehicles, including Golf cars and SUVs.

These vehicles were allegedly used to support secret movements and operations linked to the alleged coup plot against Tinubu.

Sources disclosed that the vehicles were meant to help operatives move without attracting attention. Moreover, they were allegedly deployed for intelligence gathering and discreet access to sensitive locations. Such locations reportedly included airports and other strategic public facilities across key regions.

Security officials said documents backing the purchases have already been recovered. One source confirmed that receipts and transaction records were found during investigations. These documents, therefore, provided insight into how logistics were funded and shared within the network.

Investigators believe the vehicles played a central role in keeping movements low-profile.

However, the discovery has widened the scope of the probe, linking both serving and retired personnel to the alleged plan. In addition, a retired major general, identified simply as Adamu, has been connected to the network.

Meanwhile, Adamu is said to have escaped arrest. Three other suspects are also reportedly on the run. Intelligence officials revealed that one fleeing suspect was traced to a South American country. However, the exact location has not been disclosed for security reasons.

Furthermore, several security agencies are now working together to dismantle remaining cells. Ongoing surveillance and cross-border intelligence cooperation are said to be in place.

Preparations for prosecution are equally advancing. “25 military officers and personnel are expected to face trial in connection with the coup attempt,” one source said.

In addition, civilians allegedly involved are being investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Department of State Services. Officials said these civilians are suspected of handling funding, logistics, and coordination.
