How Actress Biola Adebayo Once Made Me Clean Her Shoes – Ex-Colleague Claims Amid Aso Ebi Drama

Popular Yoruba actress, producer, and TV presenter Abiola Adebayo has found herself in the middle of two trending conversations.

The actress recently went viral after she posted a heartfelt video where she admitted she could no longer afford the increasingly expensive Aso Ebi culture dominating Nigerian parties.

However, the conversation took an unexpected turn when beauty influencer Adeola Adeyemi, popularly known as @Diiadem, made a surprising claim about the actress’s past behavior on a movie set.

“I remember how this lady made me clean her shoes one time I followed my step mum to a movie set those days,” Adeola alleged. “I wasn’t even an actress, but she made me do it.”

The comment immediately stirred a wave of online reactions, with fans expressing shock over the claim.

However, as of the time of this report, Biola Adebayo has yet to address the allegation or respond publicly to the viral remark.

Meanwhile, in her original post, Adebayo candidly spoke about her struggle to keep up with multiple party invitations requiring expensive Aso Ebi.

“Between now and the end of the year, I have about eight Owambe events. The cost of Aso Ebi is approximately ₦2 million or ₦2.5 million,” she lamented. “Dear friends and family, I am sorry, I can’t afford it.”

She further explained that beyond the fabric, there are additional costs tailoring, makeup, accessories, transportation, and cash gifts at events.

“It’s another thing to buy a cloth, sew it, do makeup, and get matching shoes and a bag,” she said. “If you tell me it’s strictly by Aso Ebi, that means you’re saying the fabric is more important than me.”

Adebayo’s honesty resonated with many Nigerians who admitted they felt the same pressure.

“Aso Ebi is not by force!”one user, @iamdrvowero, commented.

Another, @fynestcocktails, added, “I agree with you. It’s a waste, especially when people pick the same color. Why can’t we just agree on colors?”

“Please, nobody should take this personal with me. I cannot afford it, please! If you give me, I’ll gladly make my Iro and Buba to honor you,” she stated.

“I have enough responsibilities than spending so much on clothes that I can hardly wear twice.”

The Aso Ebi cost in Nigeria debate continues to gain traction, as many point to how cultural expectations have evolved into financial strain.

Moreover, Adebayo’s comments have opened up a broader conversation about social pressure and class perception within Nigerian entertainment and society.

Meanwhile, “I can wear what I have if you don’t mind. But I cannot keep spending millions on Aso Ebi,” she concluded in her video.

Whether she eventually addresses Adeola’s allegation or not, the incident has certainly sparked an unexpected mix of nostalgia, controversy, and an honest reflection on priorities in the entertainment industry.
