The confirmation followed the grand cook-off event held on September 12 at Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, where thousands gathered to witness the history-making attempt.

In a post shared on its official X account, Guinness World Records announced:
“New record: Largest serving of Nigerian style jollof rice – 8,780 kg (19,356 lb 9 oz) achieved by Hilda Baci and Gino in Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria.”

This recognition cements Baci’s reputation as one of Nigeria’s most daring culinary stars.

It also brings the spotlight back to Nigerian jollof rice, a dish long regarded as a symbol of cultural pride.

Shortly after the announcement, the chef shared a video of the emotional moment she received the call from Guinness World Records.

In the clip, Hilda, surrounded by her mother, friends, and team, was visibly overwhelmed. Tears of joy flowed as she expressed gratitude for achieving what many thought impossible.

Her journey was supported by leading brands, celebrities such as Funke Akindele and Enioluwa, and even Ogun State’s First Lady, Bamidele Abiodun, who all cheered her on during the event.

While the celebration was massive, the cook-off wasn’t without criticism.

Some attendees argued that the food wasn’t as tasty as expected, sparking debates online.

However, the sheer scale and precision of the achievement overshadowed the negative remarks.

Meanwhile, netizens were quick to react. One user asked if Guinness World Records offers cash prizes, while another playfully teased, “Has Guinness called? Like say she no know 😆 congrats.”

This new milestone adds to Hilda Baci’s growing list of global achievements.

Recall that in 2023, she earned her first Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon, a feat that catapulted her into international recognition.

Now, less than three years later, she has once again put Nigeria on the global culinary map with the biggest pot of jollof rice ever recorded.

By achieving this feat, Baci has inspired countless young Africans to dream big and chase the seemingly impossible.

As Guinness World Records put it, the numbers speak for themselves: 8,780 kilograms of Nigerian jollof rice, officially the largest in history.
